Back in 2013 I was approached by driving instructor Alan Jones who wanted to build an online presence for his newly launched driving school business.
As part of the consultation process we worked to understand what he wanted to achieve with his business online. Here’s a clip of Alan explaining the challenges he was facing before finding us:
Like many small businesses, his local town (Oswestry) was packed with competition. In Alan’s case he needed a website and a search presence capable of competing not only with lots of other local driving instructors, but also the British School of Motoring and their wide national reach.
In fact at the last check there were at least 100 results for the term ‘driving instructor Oswestry’ which made this quite a competitive local niche to break into.
The first thing we did was sort out an eye catching logo to give the business a unique brand identity. Then we set about building a website so that he could easily take bookings and display important information about his business.
We then linked the website up to his Facebook page and set up a Google business page.
In less than 6 months Alan’s website was ranking on page one of the search results for driving instructor Oswestry and various other related search terms and his Facebook page has gone from strength to strength.
Alan’s site has since ranked higher than any other driving school business in the local area (see below) and moved into the top 2 overall with only Yell standing in the way (which we can’t do much about at the moment due to big brand bias).
Main tasks accomplished for Alan:
- Social media
- Website design and development
Here’s where you can find Alan…
