There is no doubt that SEO has become harder as various loopholes have been closed and aggressively targeted by Google. Many websites owners have suffered from ranking penalties and adjustments to SERPS that have wiped businesses out almost overnight in recent years.
As the infographic shows, search has come a long way with the introduction of AI technology and localised search. There is little doubt that to remain relevant, the SEO industry will need to pay more attention to the evolution of search as audiences and customers continue to become harder to reach for free.
